VA Emissions Inspection is required once every 2 years on most vehicles registered in the localities designated by the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality. Vehicles registered in the counties of Fairfax, Prince William, Loudoun as well as the cities of Fairfax, Alexandria and Arlington are required to have VA Emissions Inspections performed on most vehicles. VA Emissions Inspections tests the vehicle for excessive pollutants and verifies proper operation of emissions components such as the catalytic converter or converters, the evaporative emissions system (Evap system), the oxygen sensor or oxygen sensors, the oxygen sensor heater, the PCV system, the exhaust system and more. A Check engine light can cause a vehicle to fail a VA Emissions Test as well as cause other troubles.

In the event of a failed VA Emissions Inspection, we are a VA Certified Emissions Repair Facility so you can rest assured that we can address any failures and get your car back on the road as quickly as possible. Failed emissions inspections that are very costly to repair may qualify for a "waiver" if emissions related repairs exceed $965.
